"Frédéric Saulou was born in 1989 and lives and works in Rennes, Brittany.
Having graduated with a degree in spatial and environmental design from the Institut Supérieur des Arts Appliqués (LISAA) in 2011 as well as a degree from the Ecole Européenne Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Rennes (EESAB) in 2013, Frédéric continues to develop his experience with the Eric Gizard Associés agency and by working alongside designer Frédéric Ruyant.
He founded the Frédéric Saulou Design Studio in 2013, an independent, multidisciplinary design and consultancy agency that envisages design as a space for research and interaction which allows him to develop a sensitive approach to shapes and materials. Experimentation and research play a key role in his work which focuses on creating new materials and purposes. He combines this ethos with his day-to-day approach to ensure that every project is viewed as a sculpture and reflects the meeting point between simplicity and technicality. His vision guides him towards an approach that is global but also unique in its designs with the aim of creating a distinctive interaction between the user and the object.
Frédéric is currently working on a number of projects, involving objects and spaces, in limited editions as well as series. He collaborates with prestigious institutions and brands including publishers Ligne Roset, Drugeot Labo, Brossier Saderne, manufacturers Vista Alegre, Esprit Porcelaine Limoges, Galerie Philia, Galerie Room, Dymant, Haptein, Le Molitor, Suite 13, Dixjours and Savannah Bay Gallery.
