Brossier Saderne lights up a local restaurant institution in Cap-Ferret, France
After 2 years of renovation, the Hôtel de la Plage has reopened to everyone's delight.
Its history began in 1860, when it was a dormitory and canteen for pine resin workers. It was run for many years by cousins Janine and Michou, before being taken over by Nicolas Lascombes and Stessy Faber in 2011, founders of Maison Faber Lascombes.

Easily recognisable with its red and cream façade, the building had been marked by the passing of time and needed to be restructured. Before even starting to renovate the building, the owners had to reinforce the dune at the back of the building, which was threatening to crush the building's structure. A large part of the building had to be replaced, but care was taken to remain faithful to the original, with its characteristic modenature of the basin.
Under the leadership of interior designer Delphine Carrere, who has always known the place, the building has been given a new lease of life with the creation of twelve bedrooms. Pine parquet flooring, old-fashioned panelling, coloured walls and furniture, rope accessories and zellige walls create a warm, family atmosphere. ‘But each time, in a spirit of modernity’, underlines the interior designer.
Brossier Saderne has created bespoke light fixtures for the bedrooms: wall lamps with or without ropes, and floor lamps with varnished beechwood pearls on the base and a varnished brushed brass finish. In the restaurant, which can seat up to 120 diners, bespoke wall lights with ropes add a warm glow to the large dining room.
We're delighted with this collaboration, as the well-named Hôtel de la Plage has everything it needs to convince its regulars to stay for more than just a meal.
